The Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson has reportedly given the families of the teenagers who drowned at Apam GH₵1,000 each.
The amount is expected to assist the families when it comes to the buying of the coffins to bury their loved ones.
The minister is said to have donated to the families after paying each of them a visit.
Hon mavis also donated an amount of GH₵10,000 to the Traditional Council to help in performing traditional rites to appease the gods as well as retrieve the remaining bodies.
She added the incident has really affected Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo has extended his condolences to the bereaved families.
She further stated that the government would offer more support to the families as time passes by.
On March 8th, 2021 over 20 teenagers are said to have drowned at Apam following swimming Gone wrong.
According to reports, over 13 bodies have since been retrieved with search still ongoing on.
Since news broke of the incident there has been a lot of account leading to the death of the Teenagers.
Some account say the deceased’s were having s*x and were therefore killed as a result of the wrath of the gods.
But reacting to the incident, the founder of the lords parliament, Prophet Amoako-Atta, has fingered the traditionalist in the area as being behind the incident.
He stated that the traditionalist in the vicinity sacrificed the teenagers for their selfish reasons.
“What covenant [the word Apam in reference] exists in the district? Why didn’t the incident occur on any other day but [a day after] Independence day?
“I told an official that it was the water that came for the children. It was organized for the sea to swallow them up for sacrifice, and one of the rescuers reported that while they were saving lives, a turbulent water beat against the shores and dragged the victims along,” he added.
“I was listening to one of the interviewees, he said ‘a child who had a strong spirit was able to make it out of the water.’ Think about it.
‘What kind of child is that whose spirit is so strong that the water could not overwhelm him?”
“Jesus commanded the storm to calm and it did. Behind the water that almost drowned Him and his disciples was a spirit.
‘So the water which overflowed its bank and drowned all those children was driven by a spirit.”
