President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced the appointment of Rear Admiral Seth Amoama to act as new Chief of Defence Staff, effective Friday, 5th February 2021, pending consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted Council of State.
The appointment of Rear Admiral Seth Amoama to take over the reins of power from Staff Lt. Gen. O.B Akwa comes after the completion of the tour of duty and subsequent retirement from the Ghana Armed Forces, on 5th February 2021, of the current Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. O.B Akwa.
The President has expressed his gratitude to him for his dedicated and meritorious service to the Ghana Armed Forces and to the nation.
a press statement issued, announcing the new appointment read in parts President Akufo-Addo has appointed, with effect from Friday, 5th February 2021, Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu to act as Chief of Naval Staff, also pending consultation with the yet-to-be-constituted Council of State.
Rear Admiral Yakubu, until his new appointment, was the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The President will, in due course, in accordance with applicable regulation, appoint a new Chief of Staff at General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In other news, Mr. Samuel Koku Anyidoho, the Executive Secretary for the Atta Mills Institute has filed a Ghc 10 million defamation suit against Dzifa Gunu, an NDC activist and an aide to Mr. John Mahama.
Mr. Anyidoho is seeking redress in court after claiming that Dzifa Gunu carelessly and recklessly made series of publications without lawful excuse or justification, an attempt which alleges was calculated to injure and ruin his reputation.
He is therefore claiming damages in the sum of 10 million Ghana cedis for the defamatory statements published by the defendant on his Facebook pages.
He is again demanding the retraction and apology by the defendant with the same prominence and circulation as the public from his Facebook walls, news portals, and social media platforms where she posted the same.
