Some bold robbers have reportedly stormed a funeral to steal contributions from sympathizers.
According to the reports, the relatives now want the national government to provide them with security over fears more attacks will occur before they can bury their dead relatives.
“I was alerted by the security guards at midnight that there were two people who wanted to open the gate. That is when I informed the area chief who called the police,” said one family member of the deceased.
A brother of the slain head of the Kiambu family, Allan Warunge, said that a security guard caught two suspected robbers who were trying to open the gate at night.
Following the shameful event, He said the family has not been sleeping well over fears robbers would attack again.
Kiambaa police boss, Muchiri Nyaga, revealed that the thugs wanted to steal the funeral money.
But fortunately for the robbers, there was no money under the funeral as the finances was in the hands of a burial committee.
A member of the bereaved family, Lawrence Warunge, a student at a local university, confessed to the murders, telling the police.
He is said to have killed his father, Nicholas Warunge, his mother Ann Wanjiku, his brother Christian Njenga Njoroge, cousin Maxwell Njenga and farmhand James Kinyanjui Wambaa.
He later led detectives where he had thrown away the murder weapons and the clothes he wore during the night of the massacre.
He has since been caged alongside his girlfriend to assist police during investigations.
The robbers must be ashamed of themselves for attempting to rob a family in a lot of pain.
