The Porcupine Warriors failed to pick a victory in their CAF Champions League match against Al Hilal on Wednesday afternoon.
Asante Kotoko suffered a painful 1-0 home defeat to Al Hilal in their 2020/21 CAF Champions League first leg fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Al Hilal looked dangerous in the first half of the match as they launched several fearsome attacks on home side but failed to snatch the opener.
Mohammed Abdelrahman came close to open the score for Al Hilal on the 10th minute but his effort went wide after goalkeeper Abdallah Abu-Eahrein had fisted out a drive from Christopher Nettey.
Defender Ibrahim Imoro and Kwame Opoku tried their lucks with audacious strike but both shots went wide as the visitors kept their impressive output in the first half with a solid backline as well.
The two sides failed to register the opener as the first department of the match ended in a scoreless draw.
Back from the break, Al Hilal continued their dominance with an intensified pressure on the Porcupine Warriors.
Imoro rescued Asante Kotoko from conceding the first goal on the 62nd minute as he cleared out a shot from Eid Mugadam.
Coach Johnson Smith strengthened his upfront with the introduction of Ibrahim Osman as replacement for Godfred Asiamah.
Also, Naby Keita and Muniru Sulley were introduced to replaced Kwame Opoku and Emmanuel Gyamfi respectively.
The visitors also made three substitutions which saw goalscorer Vinny Bongonga introduction as replacement for Waleed Bakhet Hamid.
On the 77th minute, Vinny Bongonga snatched the only goal with a cool finish after connecting a pass from left-back Mohammed Ouattara to hand them the well deserved victory at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In last ten minutes of the match, Asante Kotoko could be found guilty for squandering the chances and set-pieces awarded to them as the match ended in a 1-0 win in favor of Al Hilal.
