The Ghana Premier League game between Ashanti Gold SC and Accra Hearts of Oak has recorded the highest views for any with over 54,000 viewers on StarTimes for this season.
Asante Kotoko and Techiman Eleven Wonders previously held this record when their game pulled 42,000 views in their one-all draw game on GameWeek one.
Yesterday’s AshGold v Hearts game was electrifying with both teams putting on their best performance.
Ashgold had much of the ball in the opening minutes of the game but Hearts grew into it with a goal through striker Kwadwo Obeng Jnr.
The Phobians managed to hold their lead to halftime until a second-half equalizer from a Hans Kwoffie goal for the guests. At the 80th minute, Obeng Jnr connected a cross from winger Patrick Razak to record a brace and put the hosts in the lead.
The Phobians were in a comfortable lead with hopes of getting the maximum points in their opening game until Kwoffie connected a 90th-minute goal to ensure both teams shared the points.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Hearts of Oak Coach, Nii Odoom expressed his displeasure on his team’s performance.
“I think am disappointed about the result of the game. This is one game we could have killed the game as early as in the first half.
‘We created all the chances but we couldn’t finish up well and in the dying minutes of the game my boys lost a bit of concentration and our opponents equalize. It’s a painful draw”, Odoom lamented.
Contrary to Coach Odoom’s comment, Hearts of Oak’s Patrick Razak who was named the MVP says he was happy with the team’s effort.
“I will say I’m impressed because our ambition is for the team to win. And I think everybody has given his best, but so far as we did not get a win, we’ll say our performance was not encouraging,” he added.
