Ghana has been graced with some of the most talented female musicians who have been able to win a huge number of followers.
Today two celebrities will be discussed to see who is the better version of the other in terms of music-making.
First on the list is Becca. Born Rebecca Akosua Acheampomaa Acheampong, Becca gained recognition when she became a contestant on the 2nd season of TV3’s singing competition, Mentor. She then made her debut in 2007 where she released her album, “Sugar”, which had the lead single, “You Lied To Me”.
In 2008, she earned a nomination at the Ghana Music Awards and her lead song also won her the Best Record of the Year. In 2013, her second studio album was launched which had the title, “Time 4 Me”. It featured the likes of 2face Idibia, MI, King Ayisoba, Trigmatic, Jay Storm, and Akwaboah.
She then went on to win one Kora Award, one National Youth Achievers Award, four Ghana Music Awards, and three 4Syte TV Music Video Awards. She was then ranked 94th on ETV Ghana’s 2013 list of top 100 most influential people in Ghana.
Next on the list is Efya. Born as Jane Awindor, Efya is known to also be a singer and songwriter just like her counterpart. She got her first exposure when she took part in the maiden edition of the “Stars of the Future” talent show. She went on to win the Best Female ZVocal Performance category at the Ghana Music Awards in 2011. In 2013, she was applauded for her performance at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
She made her debut mixtape “TINT”, which was released on November 11, 2013. The mixtape included two singles; “Getaway” and “Best In Me”. She then released another studio album, “Janesis” on April 22, 2016.
Looking at the two, one may be tempted to choose either Becca or Efya as the best over the other.
