The world of Ghanaian comedy has been filled with a number of talented personalities who have been able to shake the entertainment industry to the core.
Some of these comedians include OB, Funny Face, Kalybos, Lil Win, and others who form a part of the new generation of comedians.
One of those comedians is Derick Kobina Bonney, famously known as, DKB. DKB has been position as the new King of Comedy by the renowned comedian, Kwaku Sintim-Misa, also known as KSM. DKB gained popularity when he represented Ghana at the Big Brother Africa Season 7 in 2012.
Later on, he became a comedy sensation after he featured on the ‘Citizen Comedy Show’ on Metro TV and ‘Laugh A Minute’ on Viasat 1 TV.
DKB is also known to be one of the few Ghanaians TV personalities who have different shows running on different channels at the same time. Aside from that, he also hosts a radio comedy show.
In the year, 2016, he started the show, Comedy Express, which has gone virtual recently due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
He has had international comedy collaborations with the likes of Observational Comedian and Satirist, Aron Kader, and British-Congolese Comedian-Actor-Presenter -Philanthropist, Eddie Kadi.
He was born to Caroline Mensah and Harry Jerry Bonney. He received his basic education in 2001 and continued at St. John’s Grammar School.
It was then he realized his love for the entertainment field. He started by doing regular dances and raps. In the year, 2005, he received his tertiary education at the University of Ghana where he began to engage in Stand-up Comedy.
Recently, a number of Ghanaians have come out to say that he is not very funny. Many have come out with complaints of the comedian losing his touch since the old era.
However, looking at his achievements and his current performances, one may think that DKB might actually be a funny person.
