The movie sector of the entertainment industry has brought out a number of celebrities who have been able to leave huge legacies for Ghanaians.
The likes of Mercy Asiedu, Akwesi Boadi (Akrobeto), Abusuapanyin Judas, Bob Santo, Rosemary Akua Ataa (Kyeiwaa), and many more have entered the movie and have made memorable times for audiences across Ghana.
Today we shall take a look at two celebrities in the industry; Akwesi Boadi (Akrobeto) and Kofi Adu (Agya Koo).
First on the list is Kofi Adu, popularly known as Agya Koo. Agya Koo as everyone knows him to be is originally from the Ashanti Region of Ghana but lived in a suburb in Accra Newtown named, Asantewaa. He was once a cobbler who was discovered on a Ghanaian comedic show on the famous GTV station.
He was awarded a National Award by the former Ghanaian president John Agyekum Kuffour in July 2008. The comedian who is also an actor has featured in lots of Kumawood movies. His talent to improvise onset with concerns to scripts is also top-notch.
He got married to Rita Asiedu in London, UK, after he dated her for 4 years. This was after his divorce from Victoria Owusu Adomako.
Some of his movies include Obaatanpa, Away Bus, Black Star, Ma Tricki Wo which was one of his most famous movies of all time in Ghana, and many more.
Second on the list is Akwesi Boadi, famously known as Akrobeto. Akrobeto is known to be a founding member of the famous Kristo Asafo drama group in the late 1990s. like his counterpart, he did not have any formal education.
The Kristo Asafo group included Agya Koo, Mercy Asiedu, Nkomode, and others. The group performed in the Key Soap Concert Party which was held at the National Theatre.
Taking a look at the above, one may try to distinguish who has been able to make much impact in the movie industry in Ghana.
