A 55-year-old man has been rescued after his father chained and locked him up for 30 years at Rogo LG in Kano state, Nigeria.
The police and human rights organizations on Thursday, August 20 stormed the home of the man who was held against his will after a tip-off from neighbors.
Since last week there have been issues like this, another man was rescued after been chained for 15 years by his father in his apartment in Sheka quarters within Kano metropolis.
The chained man, Ibrahim Lawan, a man believed to be below his 30’s was found emaciated and weak when he was rescued.
He was immediately rushed to the Nasarawa hospital in Kano where he is currently being treated.
Before that, a 30-year-old man was also locked up by his father for seven years in Farawa Babban layi Mariri quarters of Kumbotso local government area. was rescued.
Reports say, Mr. Aliyu spent days without food and water and drank his urine.
The victim was said to have been locked up by his parents on the suspicion that he had started smoking and getting involved in drug consumption.
He was rescued after a concerned neighbor alerted the police in Farawa and Human Rights Network, who came to rescue him.
When the police and the human rights group arrived, the stepmother insisted that he was not at home, which forced the team to break down places in the house in search of him.
The police, thereafter, arrested the man and his wife and took away the victim for medical examination.
Another 10-year-old Down syndrome patient who was chained up by his father and stepmother in an animal store for over two years in Kebbi has also been rescued.
