Man Rescued After Parents Locked Him Up For 7-Years Over Drug Allegation

A 32-year-old man identified as Ahmad Aliyu, who was locked up by his father and stepmother for seven years in Farawa Babban Layi, Mariri Quarters in Kumbotso Local Government has been rescued.

Reports say, Mr. Aliyu spent days without food and water and drank his urine.

The victim was said to have been locked up by his parents on the suspicion that he had started smoking and getting involved in drug consumption.

He was rescued after a concerned neighbor alerted the police in Farawa and Human Rights Network, who came to rescue him.

When the police and the human rights group arrived, the stepmother insisted that he was not at home, which forced the team to break down places in the house in search of him.

The police, thereafter, arrested the man and his wife and took away the victim for medical examination.

Just this week a 11-year-old boys father and his three wives  were arrested for chaining him in an animal stall for two years.

The boy, named Jibril Aliyu, from Badariya Area of Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, reportedly lost his mother 2 years ago. His stepmothers allegedly began maltreating him afterwards and denied him proper care.

The epileptic boy was reportedly chained with animals and had to survive by eating remnants of the animals’ food.

He also sometimes ate his own faeces, Manir Jega who shared videos of the boy’s rescue said.

Manir adds: “As a result of monstrous and nefarious treatment he was subjected to, he entirely lost his senses and behaves exactly like an animal.”

The Public Relations Officer(PPRO) of the command, DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the boy’s father and stepmothers to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

He said: “Yes our men have arrested a father to an 11-year-old, Jibrin Aliyu, and three wives for allegedly chaining the boy for over two years.
