National Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU)Kwame Kumah has warned members of the Concerned drivers group to desist from charging new fares as the union has not approved the fairs.
He advised passengers to pay the normal fares when they board public transport.
This comes after reports that some commercial transport operators have increased their fares without approval.
He further stated that the union will be meeting the Ministry of Transport today to determine new fares.
He admitted that the fares will definitely increase.
Following the outbreak of coronavirus, many drivers have been advocating for an increase of fare has the social distance rule makes it impossible to take their usual number of passengers.
For many, they are working for nothing.
