Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Suspends Kotoko From Signing New Players

Club Owner and Life Patron, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has directed that the club should not recruit any new player for at least one season.

This was said by the Chief of Staff at the Manhyia Palace, Kofi Badu in a speech read on behalf of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted board of the club.

The directive, according to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is to enable the club to use the current crop of player who the Asantehene believes have to push the club to the top.

It will also make Kotoko to know the positions they need to strengthen after the year as well as prevent the club from signing so many players in a season as it has been over the years.

The current CEO Dr. Kwame Kyei has signed over 50 players since he was appointed three years ago.

The continuous signing by the club appears to not be the very best way to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II which made him to take this decision.

We also understand that he wants the current board members to focus on building a strong academy side.
