The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council has disclosed plans to sanction commercial bus drivers who accept passengers without face masks.
According to the Council, the mandatory wearing of face masks must be adhered to strictly.
“Following this release, the Security Services will deal with anyone who fails to adhere to this directive of mandatory wearing of face masks.”
The move is in line with President Akufo-Addo’s directive for all Ghanaians to wear face masks in public in order to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the country.
They have also suspended all special market days in all communities within the region indefinitely.
Daily market activities, however, can go on as usual in the various communities.
All residents and commuters in the region are to wear face masks at all times when visiting , the market, hospital, shops, restaurants, banks, workplaces, on commercial vehicles and other public places.
Street hawkers, especially those who do so in traffic and wayside food vendors are also mandated to wear face masks.
